Landkreis Potsdam-Mittelmark reagiert auf anhaltende Trockenheit - Allgemeinverfügung zur Wasserentnahme erlassen

This year, too, the past few months have been exceptionally dry - the consequences are now also clearly noticeable in the district. In order to protect our waters and valuable water resources, the district of Potsdam-Mitteklmark issued a general decree on 1 July 2025.

This means the following for citizens:

• The withdrawal of water from rivers, lakes, canals and ponds is prohibited with immediate effect until 30 September 2025.
• Irrigating green spaces and gardens of private households from wells is prohibited daily from 08:00 to 20:00.

This regulation is intended to help stabilise the dramatically reduced water levels in our watercourses. The quantity and quality of water is increasingly at risk. Groundwater levels have also fallen noticeably.
