Cycling in the district

Safe, sustainable, and well connected! The Potsdam-Mittelmark District promotes cycling by creating safe and attractive routes for commuters and leisure cyclists alike. Our goal is sustainable mobility that supports climate protection and enhances quality of life.

Cycling Development Plan : A roadmap for the future

The cycling development plan is being drawn up in close collaboration with towns, municipalities, and residents. It serves as the foundation for a modern, well-connected cycling network that addresses the needs of everyday, leisure, and tourist cyclists alike. The goal: to ensure that every destination in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district is safely and comfortably accessible by bike – with improved links to public transport.

High-speed cycle routes : Direct & efficient travel

To make cycling even more attractive, we are expanding our network of high-speed cycle routes. These create fast and direct connections between key cities such as Berlin, Potsdam, and Werder (Havel). A feasibility study has already examined potential routes that would significantly improve cycling infrastructure in the region. The aim is to offer commuters and leisure cyclists a comfortable and safe alternative to motorised transport.

"Taking Climate Action Together!"

Each year, Potsdam-Mittelmark takes part in the STADTRADELN campaign, where citizens cycle for the climate. The initiative encourages people to make cycling a regular part of everyday life – helping to protect the environment. Together, we’re fostering a bike-friendly culture in our district and making sustainable mobility a shared experience.
