Shaping the future : Digital solutions for our district
The digital transformation is opening up new opportunities for the Potsdam-Mittelmark District. With its Digital Strategy 2024–2029, the district is actively promoting smart solutions in mobility, the economy and public administration. The goal: a connected region that harnesses modern technologies to sustainably improve quality of life.
Our digital strategy : Smart Region Strategy Potsdam-Mittelmark
The foundation for digital transformation in the Potsdam-Mittelmark District is the Smart Region Strategy, adopted by the District Council on 23 May 2024.
It was developed as part of the federal funding programme Smarte.Land.Regionen and defines key priorities for building a future-ready system of digital public services.
These include:
✔ Promoting digital mobility in rural areas
✔ Connecting local municipalities for smarter public administration
✔ Establishing digital opportunities for civic participation
✔ Using innovative technologies to support sustainable development
Digital PM Network : Working together for a smart future
To support digital transformation at the local level, the Digital PM Network was established. Its aim is to foster close cooperation between municipalities and institutions to implement digital projects efficiently.
Our initiatives:
- Expanding municipal digital services: TGZ PM GmbH coordinates the digitalisation of local municipalities within the district.
- Cooperation with Smart City Potsdam: Through the Regio.hub platform, we work together across regions to support digital projects within the framework of the federal Smart City funding programme.
- Inter-municipal Smart City project: In collaboration with the town of Bad Belzig and the municipality of Wiesenburg/Mark, we are implementing smart projects that go beyond individual local boundaries. Both communities are among the 73 model municipalities participating in the federal government’s Smart Cities programme.
Digital mobility solutions : Smarter ways to travel across the district
One of the key projects of the district’s digital strategy is the further development of mobility in rural areas. With smart digital solutions, rural mobility is becoming more flexible and better connected.
Innovative projects:
- Digital ride-sharing service comby: A digital service for spontaneous ride-sharing, developed and tested in close cooperation with the municipalities of Michendorf, Wiesenburg/Mark and Bad Belzig.
- Expanding existing mobility services: Current ride-sharing services, mobility stations and digital stops are being further connected and made more visible across the region.

To support digital transformation at the municipal level, the Digital PM Network was established. Its aim is to foster close cooperation between municipalities and institutions to implement digital projects more efficiently.
Our initiatives:
- Expanding municipal digital services: TGZ PM GmbH coordinates municipal digitalisation in cooperation with Smarte.Land.Regionen.
- Cooperation with Smart City Potsdam: Through the regional Regio.hub platform, we are collaborating across administrative boundaries to support digital projects within the federal Smart City funding programme.
- Inter-municipal Smart City project: Together with the town of Bad Belzig and the municipality of Wiesenburg/Mark, we are implementing a smart, inter-municipal project in the Potsdam-Mittelmark District. Both communities are among the 73 model municipalities selected for the federal Smart Cities programme.
- Developing additional digital services: Forward-looking projects such as local delivery systems, mobility stations and digital bus stops are being continuously expanded.
Digital mobility solutions : Smart connections for the district
A central focus of the digital strategy is the ongoing development of the bbnavi mobility platform. Smart digital solutions are improving access to rural areas and making mobility more flexible.
Innovative projects:
- comby ride sharing service: A digital service for spontaneous ride sharing was developed and piloted.
- Municipal cooperation: The comby app was launched in close collaboration with the municipalities of Michendorf, Wiesenburg/Mark and Bad Belzig.
- Expanding existing mobility services: Ride-sharing services, mobility stations and digital bus stops are being further connected and made more visible.
